The George Nelson Coconut Chair, designed in 1955, is one artifact of the burst of creativity coming from his design studio, it changed the look and feel of American furniture. This chair is typical of 1950s design and is distinguished by formal clarity and the fact that it uses a minimum of materials. Nelson himself compared it to a coconut cut up into eight sections. It has a simple, striking shape, which makes for a very comfortable place to unwind at home or in the private office or lounge
